[Garrett Hawke] Test Wear

Description

I haven't posted anything on dA in what feels like years because of reasons and the fact that I practically live on Tumblr now.  But!  I figured I should upload something to prove I'm still around and kicking.

So, here's the first test wear of my Hawke cosplay.  This was taken from a walk-around video shot with an iPhone 5s, so I apologize for the photo quality.

My first cosplay I've ever made!  Terrifying.  The armour is made of linoleum and painted with spray paint, handmade chainmail, the leather is vinyl, and the shirt/cape is denim.  Everything was sewn and made by myself except the shoes and the jeans.  (Not pictured: Thorin's beard/moustache that I used for Hawke's facial hair, and an old black wig. Also, I ended up using red crayola markers and "second skin" for the tattoos, which worked really well!)
I wish I logged the exact amount of hours I spent on this, but I have a feeling it was longer than it took me to complete my first Dragon Age: Inquisition playthrough.

Basically, around the end of April I got this brilliant idea that I wanted to cosplay Hawke from Dragon Age 2, and so I started working on this costume when I was able to - in June.  My plan was to have it done by July 16th, which was a day before from Ai-Kon 2k15 in Winnipeg, a local con I go to yearly.  I achieved my goal but it was still very, very rough - in fact, this photo was taken late on the 16th just after I finished assembling the knees.  (After pulling an all nighter.  Oops.)

I almost didn't even wear it because I didn't think it was good enough to be seen in public.  It was, and is even more now, really rough around the edges and I spent at least an hour looking at the armour and the test photos I took before I decided to pack it away for the convention.  I'm so glad I decided to bring it.
It almost survived 6 hours at the convention, before one of the feet fell off and I removed the rest of the armour.  I could literally talk for hours about how amazing the convention was, and how nice it was to meet a couple fellow dragon age cosplayers but I'll save that for a blog post I'm working on somewhere else.

In conclusion, this is my first revision of my mage Garrett Hawke cosplay, and I'm hoping that I'll be able to get 2.0 done by next year! (With more durable materials and techniques!)
